Maple Physiotherapy

Growing up in Saskatchewan, Canada I knew early in my career that I wanted to help people get the most out of life. While walking to university I saw a man who due to his weight was unable to stand up straight. When he attempted to clear the road of debris that fell from a truck entering the construction site he was guarding I saw that this many was barely able to move. I knew then that I wanted to help people like him and I would spend many years working towards this goal. Maple Physiotherapy is the result of over a decade of education and skill development and I am proud to offer my services to the community.

My Journey So Far…

Following completing my bachelor degree at the University of Saskatchean I began my medical career in Canada as a Kinesiologist treating adults of many ages who were working towards returning to work. Later I my skill set expanded when I became an Exercise Physiologist throught the American College of Sports Medicine and I began working with patients with more complex conditions and serious illness such as cancer, heart disease, and major surgeries.

My degree in ergonomics from Fredericton University allowed me to begin conducting ergonomics assessments with major food manufacturing companies. I utilized my skills in industries such as construction, food manufacturing, beef processing, and engineering to reduce the frequency of injuries in their workforces. During this time I took advanced education on the lower back and the hand expanding my knowledge base.

Moving to the UK I took a masters degree in Physiotherapy at Oxford-Brookes University. During my time at university I was able to work with the Oxfordshire NHS trust rehabilitating acute stroke patients in the Abingdon Community Hospital.

Upon registering as a Physiotherapist I began treating musculoskeletal patients privately for the NHS. At the same time I worked as a case manager guiding and advising seriously injurred individuals following traumatic motor vehicle incidents and work place accidents. These patients often were suffering from multiple serious injuries as well as pscholgocial trauma.

Recently I have been able to combine my skill sets working at the Northampton General Hospital. I am entrusted there to treat the staff and ensure they are able to continue providing medical care to the public. During my time at Northampton General I have rehabilitated surgeons, restoring their ability to operate, nurses who were unable to walk, as well as many other staff members suffering from a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries. I also have implemented a new ergonomics program at the hospital which identifies the causes of workplace injuries and creates strategies for these risks to be eliminated.

I have an interested in lower back pain and I pride myself in progressing people back to work and sport. My treatment method focuses primarily on exercise therapy and educating my patients on why their condition may not have improved in the past. My knowledge of physiology and musculoskeletal pathologies allows me to create highly focused treatment programs that can yield success for those who have not been able to resolve their symptoms in the past.
